Welcome to the Institute of Social Pedagogy, Social Work and Welfare Sciences
The Institute of Social Education, Social Work and Welfare Sciences was founded in 1992 as part of the Faculty of Education and is currently divided into three professorships. The Institute is responsible for two degree programs.

Profile of the Institute and Staff
Originally, the Institute consisted of three chairs and one lectureship. It is currently divided into three Chairs:
- Chair of Counselling and Social Relations (held by Professor Dr. Cornelia Wustmann)
- Chair of Social Pedagogy (held by Professor Dr. Karin Bock)
- Chair of Social Pedagogy with a focus on the history and theories of social education (held by Professor Dr. Constanze Berndt)
- Although the denomination of the Chairs reflects a large part of the focus areas, the topics worked on by the Institute's staff are also characterized by great diversity. This is also reflected in the research projects carried out at the Institute and in the Research Associates' publications.
