The IngPäd+ study option
The cooperation between the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau and the Dresden University of Technology has led to the implementation of the Bachelor's degree course in Engineering Education (IngPäd) at both universities of applied sciences. Graduates of this degree program have the opportunity to enter the Teacher Training - Vocational Schools degree program at TU Dresden in a simplified manner.
The structure and implementation of the Bachelor's degree course as well as the organization of the transition to the teacher training course were planned jointly and are carried out in close coordination.
The subject focus of the course is in the industrial-technical field. The first subject area to choose from is Metal and Mechanical Engineering as well as Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. Depending on the university, students can choose from the following departments as a second specialization: Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Metal and Mechanical Engineering or Textile Technology and Clothing. Please refer to the websites of the degree programs for the possible combinations.
IngPäd+ (formerly OptLA) is particularly interesting for people with an industrial-technical education or professional experience who want to gain engineering and teaching qualifications close to home. Building on this, they can aim to enter the civil service as a teacher at vocational schools.
This study option also offers people with a technical college entrance qualification the opportunity to enter the teaching profession without a general higher education entrance qualification.
This measure is financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon state parliament.
