SchulAQ - School assistance in qualification
SchulAQ is a dual study program in which students work as teaching assistants at a school while simultaneously pursuing an undergraduate teacher education degree in at least one commercially-technical subject area at TU Dresden. SchulAQ is open, among others, to professionally qualified individuals with advanced vocational training—such as technicians or master craftsmen—who are looking to take the next step in their careers and transition from the corporate sector to vocational schools.
The SchoolAQ study option
The study option offers the opportunity to take another professional career step as a technician, master craftsman or bachelor (HAW/BA) and study Teacher Training - Vocational Schools at TU Dresden in a dual study model.
In this study option, which has been offered since the 2019/20 winter semester, students can take the First State Examination for Teacher Training - Vocational Schools in a dual study model. In addition to (part-time) studies, participants also work as "school assistants in qualification" (SchulAQ) in the Saxon school service. In Saxony, the degree course is followed by a preparatory service and the second state examination, which entitles students to work as a teacher at a state school.
