|
On Wednesday, October 28, 2026, a lecture on new research regarding Saxon Cistercian monasteries will take place as part of the Leipzig lecture series “The Middle Ages and Early Modern Period.” Under the title “Bringing Manuscript Collections to Life: New Research on Saxon Cistercian Monasteries,” Dr. Matthias Eifler, Dr. Christoph Mackert, and Felix Schulze from the University Library of Leipzig will provide insights into current research approaches for cataloging and analyzing medieval manuscript collections. The talk will also focus on our joint project, Saxonia Cisterciensis. The interdisciplinary lecture series is jointly hosted by the University of Leipzig and the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig. It is organized by Prof. Dr. Sabine Griese (German Studies, Leipzig) and Prof. Dr. Klaus Grübl ( Romance Studies, Leipzig). The aim of the lecture series is to create a forum for exchange among the various departments at the University of Leipzig that focus on medieval studies or early modern research. The lecture focuses on research into Saxon Cistercian monasteries based on their manuscript collections. It thus offers insights into working with historical traditions and into the scholarly examination of medieval sources. The complete program for the Leipzig lecture series can be found here. |
