Preview: The Presence of the Pre-Modern Era
The Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period—the proverbial “pre-modern era”—doesn’t this term itself suggest that these eras are very far removed from us and seem foreign to us today? Do they nevertheless (or precisely because of this) still (or once again) have something to say to us today? In this new lecture series, renowned historians will share what fascinates them and what they believe is relevant to us today.
Andreas Pečar, Chair of Early Modern History at Martin Luther University Halle-Saale, will kick off the series. His lecture on November 17 at 4:40 p.m. will focus on the topic “Donald Trump: A Challenge for Early Modern History?”
The lecture series takes place twice per semester, always on Thursdays at 4:40 p.m. on August-Bebel-Straße. Further information and the program can be found here.
