Kooperation
Cooperation partner
Four historical research and cultural institutions are particularly closely associated with TU Dresden, which increase the attractiveness of Dresden as a place to study for history students. Working across epochs and disciplines, the Institute for Saxon History and Folklore (ISGV) is tasked with researching history and everyday life in the field of tension between regional boundaries and cultural exchange, especially with neighboring countries up to the present day. The Research Center for Comparative History of Religious Orders (FOVOG), which sees itself as a platform for researching the history of monasteries and orders in the Middle Ages, has a medieval focus. The systematic study of National Socialism and Communism as the ideological dictatorships that shaped the 20th century is the research mission of the Hannah Arendt Institute for Totalitarianism Research (HAIT). The Dresden School Museum has a collection of over 8,000 historical textbooks from the late 18th century to the present day, as well as other teaching materials and historical classrooms that are used for teaching and research purposes. The research institutes ISGV, FOVOG and HAIT have their own libraries, which are open to our students, and their staff participate in the teaching of the Institute of History at TU Dresden. In addition, the Institute of History maintains close contacts with the Saxon State Archives and the Dresden City Archives, which also enable students to study close to the sources.
