Frances Guerin: Seeing the Challenges of Water Through Art | Lecture on July 5, 2023 at 12:15 pm
What significance can Gerhard Richter’s seascapes and waterscapes have for the natural sciences?
Dr. Frances Guerin, currently Senior Fellow at the Institute of Art and Music at TU Dresden, explores this question In her lecture “Seeing the Challenges of Water Through Art”.
Gerhard Richter has repeatedly been inspired by images from the natural sciences to create his own works. With his four-part painting cycle Silikat (885/1-4) from 2003, but also the small edition Erster Blick in ein Atom (edition 112) from 2000, he reproduced spectacular scientific events in his own art.
The half-hour English lecture will take place as part of the collaborative workshop “Securing Our Water Future” of the ABCD-Centre and CIPSEM on Water Security and Adaptation on July 5, 2023 at 12:15 pm. On-site participation in Dresden is possible as well as participation via Zoom.
