As part of the seminar Reise(un)freiheit - Mobilitäten von Künstler:innen zur Zeit der DDR, which took place in the winter semester 2025/26 under the direction of Prof. Dr. Kerstin Schankweiler , students will present excerpts from four interviews conducted with female artists in recent months and prepared for the research platform Art in Networks. The event organized by us offers an insight into the results of the project seminar, which dealt with questions of mobility, restriction and artistic practice during the GDR era.
After an introductory welcome by Prof. Dr. Kerstin Schankweiler, excerpts from all the interviews will be shown, each supplemented by short student contributions. The event focuses on the conversations with the artists and at the same time provides insights into the working methods of the seminar, the preparation of the interviews and the experiences of the Master's students during the research process.
The presentation will be followed by a small get-together, which will provide an opportunity for further exchange.
