Antje Kempe
Antje Kempe is an art historian and has been an Academic Councillor at the Caspar David Friedrich Institute at the University of Greifswald since 2025(https://cdfi.uni-greifswald.de/kunstgeschichte/lehrstuehle-juniorprofessur/lehrstuhl-fuer-kunstgeschichte-prof-dr-heck/prof-dr-kilian-heck/antje-kempe-ma/). She researches the art, art historiography, landscape and architectural history of Eastern and Northern Europe and its global interconnections. Her current research project "Liquid Environments" is dedicated to coastal and urban waterfront landscapes with regard to the question of how their artistic design can be defined beyond land-based concepts. Based on discourses of the Blue Humanities, the project examines how water and plants contribute significantly to the design of regional urban landscapes not only as resources, but also as migrating actors, closely linked to various cultural practices.
