Christiane Kruse
Christiane Kruse has been Chair of History of Art and Visual Cultures at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design Kiel since 2011. She has been an annual fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin since 2011. She has been a visiting professor at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (2013), TU Dresden (2008), HbK Braunschweig (2007), among others. She completed her habilitation at the University of Konstanz (2002) with the title Wozu Menschen malen. Historical justifications of a pictorial medium (1100-1650) .
Her research and teaching focuses on Art in the 20th and 21st centuries; visual studies and visual culture studies in the context of ecology, politics and sociology. Her current research project deals with "Living with coal. Ecocriticism in Art and Literature in the 'Industrial Nation' Germany (working title)".
