Linn Burchert
Dr. Linn Burchert has been head of the research group "Art, Environment, Ecology" at the Central Institute for Art History in Munich since 2024. Her dissertation "Das Bild als Lebensraum: Ökologische Wirkungskonzepte in der abstrakten Kunst, 1910-1960" (2019) was dedicated to ecological ideas in modern painting. In her post-doctoral project "Climate Summit Art: Art and Political Event, 1972-2022" (funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), 2021-2026), she examines the role of art and culture in the context of international UN conferences on the environment and climate since 1972. In view of virulent claims to the politicization of art, she sheds light on the phenomenon of "climate summit art" against the background of depoliticizing performativity and culturalism in current environmental and climate governance.
