The Institute introduces itself
The main emphases of research and teaching at the Institute lay upon European and international law, intellectual property, data protection and media law, technology and environmental law, ecclesiastical and state church law, as well as on legal-sociological foundations. Some recent research topics include genetic engineering, artificial intelligence, as well as the protection of cultural property and human rights.
The Dresden location
With regard to several aspects, Dresden and its Technical University serve as the ideal location for the Institute's headquarters. For instance, TU Dresden has a longstanding history in applied and industrial sciences. It continues to honor that history by ensuring its research and teaching have practical relevance and centers on the intersection of law and technology.
In addition, Dresden is a city rich in art and culture and is well on its way to becoming the next European business and science hub due to an influx of high-tech companies and research institutes. As a result, the city has garnered an enviable reputation in the technology-intensive fields of microelectronics/information and communication technology, biotechnology, new materials/nanotechnology, as well as in the complex of mechanical and plant engineering, automotive, aerospace and space technology.
