2 semester programme
In general the LL.M programme consists of two parts: during the winter semester our students study at one of our international partner universities, the University of Exeter, Queen Mary Intellectual Research Institute in London, the Karl University in Prague, the Jagiellonen University in Krakow, the Centre d´Etudes Internationales de la Propriété Industrielle in Strasbourg or the University of Washington in Seattle.
In the summer semester, the LL.M students study together at the University of Excellence - Technische Universität in Dresden after they have worked 4-6 week in a specialized law firm, legal department of a company, a patent court or another institution focussing on Intellectual Property Law to gain practical work experience. The students studying in Strasbourg and Seattle are exempted from the obligation to do an internship for their semester in Strasbourg and Seattle lasts until the end of March and the programme is characterized by its highly practical orientation.
The summer semester consists of lectures and seminars on Patent and Trademark, Copyright, Media and Competition Law. Students may complete their knowledge by choosing two basic subjects, for example from the field of general business, International and European Law. Besides, we offer a weekly panel with practitioners like IP lawyers and patent judges giving lectures on special legal problems of their daily work-life.
