LL.M. INTERNATIONAL STUDIES IN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY LAW AND DATA LAW
The LL.M. program "International Studies in Intellectual Property Law" is a 1-year postgraduate course offering students expertise on Intellectual Property Law, in particular Copyright, Data, Trade Mark & Design and Patent Law. We draw ours students’ attention to legal questions associated with new technologies, multimedia and the internet.
Founded in the academic year of 1999/2000 the Institute offers a complete English since 2018. At the end of the program, successful participants will obtain a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in “International Studies in Intellectual Property Law“. The program is unique in offering participants not only a practice-oriented specialization in the field of Intellectual Property Law, but also the opportunity to acquire an excellent knowledge of foreign languages and legal terminology.
An LL.M. in IP Law at TU Dresden therefore not only offers students the rare opportunity to deepen their knowledge in an increasingly important area of law, but also combines academic excellence with a high degree of internationality. On average, our students come from 20 different countries per academic year, which creates a global working atmosphere while providing constant opportunities to improve social skills and cultural competencies.
In addition, our program allows for the exchange of ideas and networking between students and scholars, attorneys, and in-house counsel, all of whom share a passion for Intellectual Property. The program has recruited renowned scholars and practitioners from across Europe and the rest of the world to share their knowledge and train the next generation of lawyers and political leaders.
Last but not least Dresden is the perfect location for graduate studies in Intellectual Property Law. Known for art and culture, as well as one of Germany’s leading centres for high-tech business and research, the city of about 550,000 is the capital of Germany’s state of Saxony. Technische Universität Dresden (“TU Dresden” or “TUD”) hosts 36,000 students and is renowned for teaching, research, and numerous inventions. TUD is the ideal institution for an interdisciplinary approach to Law and Technology. Additionally, the Court of Appeal with its Chamber specializing in Intellectual Property Law is located in Dresden. The city’s historic center and picturesque location on the Elbe River contribute to the high quality of life. Moreover, the surrounding region provides excellent opportunities for outdoor activities. A wide variety of restaurants, bars and clubs cater to young people and Dresden’s large student population.
