Security and society
(Sicherheit und Gesellschaft)
Overview
The attacks in Paris, the continuing wave of refugees, the events on New Year's Eve in Munich or at Cologne Central Station - events like these influence the opinions and attitudes of citizens to subsequent political decisions in very different ways. In this context, it is of great importance to scientifically investigate the tense relationship between the freedom of the individual in a democratic constitutional state and the need for security with up-to-date data.
In the project 'Security and Society' (SuG), the Chair conducts a mixed-mode survey. The survey is divided into a Germany-wide telephone sample, a Dresden-wide household survey, and a survey in social networks. In Dresden we survey households in all parts of the city. The households were randomly selected from all households in the city of Dresden (Random Walk).
