Information for international Erasmus students on earning ECTS
Erasmus students are generally free to choose from the range of courses offered.
The achievements must be confirmed by the lecturer on a performance record (Leistungsnachweis). We recommend that you also have the lecturer confirm your regular attendance in writing on a piece of paper.
Erasmus students have the following options for earning ECTS:
1. You complete full modules. The ECTS and the module descriptions are provided in the study regulations.
Example for BA: For a basic module (Grundmodul - GM ) you get 10 ECTS, for a focus module (Schwerpunktmodul - SM) you get 15 ECTS.
2. You take individual courses. You will receive ECTS as follows:
- Attendance as well as preparation and follow-up of a course of 2 hours per week (SWS): 2 credits,
- oral examination or presentation: 1 ECTS,
- written examination (Klausur): 2 ECTS,
- seminar paper: 3 ECTS.
Examples: Attendance of a course + writing a seminar paper = 5 ECTS (2 for attendance + 3 for the seminar paper). Attendance of a course + written exam = 4 ECTS. etc.
3. You combine (1) and (2).
Achieving ECTS in the most efficient way is a computational issue.
