SHORT BIOGRAPHY
In her research and teaching activities Anna Holzscheiter focuses on the emergence, impact and change of international organizations as well as the manifold relationships between (inter)governmental and societal actors in international politics. She pays particular attention to the often turbulent biographies of international norms - she analyses processes of the creation and contestation of norms from the perspective of language and discourse analytical approaches in International Relations. In her courses Anna Holzscheiter aims to convey sound knowledge of theories, methods and empirical research fields in International Relations, including critical theory, feminist and postcolonial approaches and methods beyond the IR mainstream. For Master's students she offers courses on international institutions, interdisciplinary debates (especially with law and sociology) and theories of international cooperation.
Anna Holzscheiter completed her PhD at Freie Universität Berlin in 2006. Before accepting her appointment as Full Professor at TU Dresden, she worked as an assistant professor for International Relations (2015-2019) and as a research assistant at the Research Unit for Transnational Relations, Foreign and Security Policy at Freie Universität Berlin (2006-2014). From April 2015 until December 2021, she was Head of the research group "Governance for Global Health" at WZB Social Science Research Center Berlin. During the academic year 2014-15 she was John F. Kennedy Memorial Fellow at Harvard University. From 2007 to 2010 she was Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Public Health Policy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
