Sofie is a Research Associate and PhD candidate at the Chair of International Politics / Institute of Political Science at TU Dresden. She is part of the trinational 'Framenet', where she researches International Political Discourses on International Migration. Her personal research interests include international public policy, critical international relations and discourse analysis, feminist, post-colonial and non-anthropocentric perspectives, global migration, international migration policy and law, international conflict and development studies, rebel and hybrid governance, rebel-civilian relations, women and gender, and climate change.
She has worked in the field of International Development and International Public Policy with a focus on Conflict and Governance, as well as in the Tech sector. Her former clients include Chatham House, The Economist, Accenture, Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC), the former UK Department for International Development (DFID) and UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Currently, she is an Ambassador Council Member at the International Crisis Group and volunteers on Oxfam’s research project ‘Agency in a Time of Covid’.
Sofie graduated with an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She has earned her BA in Liberal Arts and Sciences at University College Maastricht (UCM), and completed a Bachelor's semester abroad at the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University (GW) in Washington, D.C. For work and/or education, she has previously lived in London (UK), Brussels (Belgium), Washington, D.C. (US), Pune (India), Sapporo (Japan), and Yeosu (South Korea).
