A Warm Welcome to Dr. Tim Zajontz, New Research Associate at the Chair
On 1 April, just in time for the start of the new semester, we welcome Dr Tim Zajontz as a new colleague at the Chair - a warm welcome!
After his studies at the University of Heidelberg and Stellenbosch University (South Africa), he completed his PhD at the University St Andrews (UK). He then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre of African Studies at the University of Edinburgh (UK). Overall, his research centres around Africa’s international relations and political economy, with a particular focus on Southern and Eastern Africa as well as on Africa-China relations. His research has taken him to Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and European countries.
In addition to his research, Dr Tim Zajontz also has vast teaching experience. He has taught at Stellenbosch University, the University of St Andrews and most recently at the University of Freiburg on Global Political Economy and International Relations with a special focus on Sub-Saharan Africa and the 'Global South'. He is off to a flying start with us, beginning his two Masters seminars in his first week.
With his specialization and his international research and teaching experience, Zajontz is an excellent addition to our Chair for Political Science with a focus on International Politics. With his friendly and sociable nature, he not only enriches our team, but will also be an open contact person for students.
