Teaching Award for Dr. Christine Andrä
A high degree of creativity, interactivity as well as an open and participatory atmosphere - this is how Dr. Andrä scores with the students. For her proseminar in the module "Introduction to the Study of International Relations", Dr. Andrä was awarded by the GFF for her outstanding teaching. Despite corona-related online teaching, she managed to fill the Zoom-meetings with life and stimulating discussions through her engaging and open-minded manner.
For the academic year 2020/2021, the society of Friends and Sponsors of the TU Dresden (GFF) has collected proposals from individual students or student groups, the student councils, the deans of the faculties and the departmental speakers. The prize is listed at 2000 euros, which is to be spent on future teaching.
Dr. Andrä was very pleased to receive this award. Especially because of the extraordinary circumstances, as she herself describes: "Online teaching in the context of the pandemic has sometimes pushed me to my limits in the last few semesters, and I think the students have felt the same way. It must have been especially difficult for my students in the proseminar as most of them were only in their second semester and had never seen the university from the inside. Despite these adversities, they got involved with the seminar and I looked forward to discussing the basics of IB with them again every week." Moreover, she adds, she is also happy to receive the award because "it is great feedback for the whole big team of the introductory module within which my proseminar took place"
The Chair of International Politics warmly congratulates Dr. Andrä for her well-deserved award and is pleased about the recognition of her outstanding teaching. She defies all challenges and manages to inspire students with the basics of international relations. So, one can only look forward to the upcoming face-to-face seminars with Dr. Andrä, which will certainly continue to be creative, interactive, and participative.
