Networked consulting

JoDDiD’s Networked Consultation is a free service for Saxon projects in the field of extracurricular democratic youth and adult education, designed to facilitate topic-specific exchanges of experience, collaborative brainstorming, and, when needed, case consultations.

Based on consultation requests from Saxon project stakeholders and exciting Saxon projects, we invite participants to dynamic, digital exchange and brainstorming sessions—moderated 120-minute small-group sessions of 6–8 people—to address various issues. JoDDiD approaches these sessions through the lens of political education and contributes questions and insights to the discussion.

2. CELEBRATE AS THE OCCASION DICTS...

During this “Networked Consultation,” we worked together with representatives from Saxony’s Partnerships for Democracy to address these questions: Where can democratic/political learning take place before, during, and after a festival? What formats work best? Which political topics and events can be celebrated in their own right, so that the celebration itself becomes a learning opportunity? Learn more

3. USING PICTURE STORIES FOR POLITICAL EDUCATION

In this networked consultation, we examined the wonderful book “Voices—47 Stories of Dresden Women from Around the World” through the lens of political education. Our question was: How and where can these stories be used in political education? Learn more

4. RETHINKING PANEL DISCUSSIONS

Panel discussions are a popular format for large-group events. We also encounter panel discussions in extracurricular political education, often when controversial issues are to be discussed. We brought together people who have extensive experience in organizing and conducting panel discussions and who were eager to work with us to rethink panel discussions to some extent. Learn more

5. SHOWCASE IN POLITICAL EDUCATION

Initiatives and organizations with offices in downtown locations can also use their storefronts for political education and communication with residents. Some organizations participating in the state funding program “Places of Democracy” are renting space in retail locations with large storefront windows. It therefore made sense to offer a networked consultation on this topic. Learn more
