#04 The direct wire
Encounters between citizens and politicians often take place in a ritualized form, for example during parliamentary debates, office hours or panel events. Here, roles are often predetermined and interest in the topic or debate is the prerequisite for the encounter.
But how can we reduce the often lamented gap between politics/public administration and citizens? How can we make encounters more accessible and ensure an interested, open exchange?
A direct wire helps!
There are old telephones with a comfortable armchair in public places and in canteens of the state parliament or public administration. A connection to another location can be established by speed dialling.
Who will answer the call? Who will I meet and what will we talk about?
Chance determines communication and takes the pressure off the meeting.
