Johannes Haaf is a Research Associate at the Chair of Legal and Constitutional Theory. His research and teaching interests include modern democratic theory, the philosophy of human rights, the transnationalization of law and the Constitution, post-Marxist subject theory and the politics of architecture. His doctoral thesis examines the relationship between law and democracy in the transnational constellation.
Studied political science with a focus on political theory and philosophy in Freiburg/Br., Copenhagen, Toronto and Frankfurt am Main; since September 2016 Research Associate at the Chair of Legal and Constitutional Theory at TU Dresden; research stays at King's College London, Columbia University and EHESS Paris; from June 2018 to May 2022 research associate at the SFB 1285 ("Invectivity"); from January 2020 to October 2023 member of the German-French doctoral program "Construire les différences".
Johannes Haaf received his doctorate in October 2023 with a thesis in democratic theory (supervisors: Prof. Dr. Sabine Müller-Mall, Prof. Dr. Christian Volk).
