Academic training programme
With a transdisciplinary training program, the Schaufler Lab@TU Dresden offers the fellows of the Schaufler Kolleg@TU Dresden a doctoral training that is structured on the one hand and can be variably tailored to individual educational needs on the other hand. Methodologically oriented training opportunities are combined with academic courses. The research focus of the Schaufler Lab@TU Dresden in the humanities and social sciences is deliberately expanded by the integration of STEM perspectives.
The overarching goal of the training program is to enable both a successful doctoral process and comprehensive content-related continuing education for doctoral candidates. The focus is on questions regarding the social challenges of new technologies in connection with the technical basics.
The taught contents are critically discussed in an artistic-scientific exchange in order to be able to develop one's own perspectives. The training program thrives on the versatile competencies of the Lab, which are contributed by the supervising professors of the Kolleg, by mentors and partners from the STEM subjects, as well as by selected guests from various scientific and artistic disciplines and from the practice of the fields that are explored in the doctorates.
In order to acquire the basic knowledge of the guiding theme and to enable productive exchange among the fellows, regularly colloquia with exposé, essay, and reading discussions take place during the semester. In addition, workshops with qualified experts enable the fellows to deepen their specialist knowledge and to gain research insights into more advanced topics.
The Graduate Academy of the TU Dresden supports the Schaufler Lab@TU Dresden with customized qualification offers. Within the framework of the "PhD Compass", methods for time management, basics of good scientific practice, questions regarding the supervisory relationship and a structured writing process are taught.
