Apart from financial support, the Schaufler Kolleg@TU Dresden offers doctoral students from the humanities and social sciences a close exchange with colleagues working on related topics, a variety of continuing education opportunities, as well as access to an established scientific landscape at TU Dresden and to other institutions belonging to the network of DRESDEN-concept e.V.

Apart from financial support for their doctoral project, the Schaufler Kolleg@TU Dresden offers talented young scholars from the humanities and social sciences close exchange with both fellow Kolleg students and artists working on related topics, access to a variety of event formats as well as to the established scientific landscape at TU Dresden and to other partners in the network of DRESDEN-concept e.V., such as art and cultural institutions and other research facilities in the State Capital of Dresden.
In the Schaufler Kolleg@TU Dresden, in each funding period up to ten fellows work on their doctoral projects, which are in line with the main research topic of the respective phase. The scholarship holders are actively involved in shaping the thematic focus of the Lab and play a pivotal role in communicating its topics to the University and to society.
The participants are offered differentiated continuing education. It comprises a general qualification programme that supports the early career researchers in successfully mastering their doctoral phase and preparing specifically for the next steps in their career. In addition, a special continuing education programme linked to the main research topic provides in-depth specialist knowledge from the STEM subjects.
In the first project phase, researchers of the Cluster of Excellence Center for Tactile Internet (CeTI), and the Scads.AI - Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence will offer a structured course on the fundamentals of AI Computer Science and technical applications. Moreover, in the framework of internships, doctoral students have the opportunity to participate in the development of AI solutions and their application in engineering, and to develop and implement projects together.
All of the Kolleg fellows receive support for their doctoral thesis by two supervisors on equal terms from two different disciplines.
SELECTION PROCESS AND DEADLINES
The application period for the first project phase ended on 29th November 2019. The selection was made by a commission of experts. The names of the scholarship holders will be announced here shortly.
