Accessible documents
Accessible documents are intended to make their content available to people with visual impairments. People with dyslexia can also benefit from the accessibility of documents.
It is important that not only text is readable by screen readers, but also that there is a good structure with headings and image descriptions. A lot can be done when the file is created, for example by formatting headings as headings and not just as bold and capitalized text.
The working group studying with disabilities (AG SBS) has written instructions for the creation of accessible documents for Word, PowerPoint and InDesign. You can find them here. The AG SBS also provides programs for this purpose. You can find out how to access them here. There is also general information on the subject of accessible documents.
The Faculty's equal opportunities team will be happy to support you in creating accessible documents. In addition to the information above, we can also provide you with financial support if you would like to entrust the revision of the accessibility of your documents to professionals.
If there is a need for accessible teaching materials for individual students, the Disability and Study Services working group will also be happy to help.
Support for events and projects
If you are planning events (e.g. workshops, guest lectures, etc.) or projects that deal with equality-related aspects in a broader sense, we will be happy to support you. In the past, for example, we have paid for lectures as part of courses or printing subsidies.
Please contact us with your ideas or events. A condition of funding is the plausible (informal) presentation of the equality-relevant aspects of the planning; it would be nice if the event or project were then also open to interested parties from the Faculty or if it became public.
Projects funded to date
- Proportionate funding of the documentation volume for the 5th Dresden Colloquium for Young Researchers in Gender Studies
- Payment of a fee for a guest lecture by Sibel Schick as part of the seminar "Language and Discrimination"
