In keeping with Italy's appearance as guest country at this year's Frankfurt Book Fair, Maike Albath now tells of Naples - the city of Elena Ferrante and Roberto Saviano, the city where the espresso tastes particularly good and over which one of the world's most famous volcanoes constantly looms.
Maike Albath, literary critic and journalist, is a profound connoisseur of Italian culture and lifestyle. She has lived in Italy for a long time and has repeatedly written books about the country. After Turin, Rome and Sicily, she has now traveled to Naples. She met the ordinary people of this city as well as famous Neapolitans, such as the writer and journalist Roberto Saviano, who is under police protection because of his research into the Camorra. But she also encountered the still omnipresent admiration for Argentinian soccer star Diego Maradona, who shaped the most successful years of the city's football club SSC Napoli.
