Countering anti-Asian racism: Registration started

The International Weeks against Racism are an annual initiative that aims to raise awareness about racism worldwide, combat prejudice and emphasise the importance of diversity and international openness.

They take place around 21 March, the "International Day to Overcome Racial Discrimination". 21 March commemorates the "Sharpeville Massacre", in which the South African police shot dead 69 peaceful demonstrators in the township of Sharpeville on 21 March 1960.

This year's motto of the Foundation against Racism is "Human Rights for All".
This year, TU Dresden is focussing on anti-Asian racism. A wide range of activities are organized to raise awareness and to empower:

Seongmoon (Lily) Shim, for example, will present her documentary film "Our Voices, Our Stories", in which she gives a voice to those affected by anti-Asian racism and sexism.  Afterwards, she will offer a Safer Space for dialogue between those affected.
Dr Birgit Häse, Director of the East Asia Centre at the TUD, will introduce the film "Wir sind jung. We are strong". Those who would like to take a more active approach to the topic can take part in argumentation training against regulars' table slogans (registration is requested).
