In-service qualification of teachers (BQL) in the subject German
TU Dresden supports the qualification of teachers in the Free State of Saxony as part of an in-service academic training program. The focus of this qualification is the acquisition of knowledge, skills and abilities in the subject science and subject didactics of the chosen subject or primary school didactics. The Teacher Qualification Regulations (QualiVO Lehrer) form the legal basis of the training.
The further education program "Berufsbegleitende Qualifizierung von Lehrkräften (BQL)" at TU Dresden combines practical work in the teaching profession with an academic qualification phase. It is realized through two training days per week at the university alongside work as a teacher in the school.
The Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research (ZLSB) organizes and coordinates the program activities under the direction of Prof. Dr. Axel Gehrmann and the program coordination of Dr. Peggy Germer in close cooperation with the university management of TU Dresden, the State Ministry of Culture (SMK) and the State Office for Schools and Education (LaSuB).
Between 2017 and 2024, around 1000 participants were successfully trained by the ZLSB at TU Dresden as part of the in-service qualification of teachers (BQL). The program was extended until 2031 at the end of 2024 by the Saxon State Ministry of Culture (SMK).
The academic training for teachers in the teaching profession offers interested individuals the opportunity to gain further professional qualifications in the subject area of primary school didactics as well as in several subjects in secondary schools. In addition to mathematics, computer science, physics and economics, technology, home economics and social studies (WTH/S), this currently also includes German.
As part of the qualification in German, participants acquire knowledge and skills in basic and advanced modules in the areas of literary studies (e.g. text analysis and interpretation, children's and young adult literature, media narration), linguistics (e.g. spelling and grammar, applied linguistics, German as a second language) and subject didactics (e.g. literature, language and media didactics, planning German lessons). The academic training in German is completed by the supplementary module "Key Competencies", which focuses on academic work in German studies as well as media and methods in German lessons.
