Sick Note for Examinations
If you fall ill before an examination and the 3-day deadline for withdrawal has already passed, please submit a written informal request for withdrawal to the examination committee and attach a completed medical certificate. Other certificates ("yellow certificates" or "pink certificates") will not be accepted. Please send both documents via mail to the Examination Office. Address: TU Dresden, Bereich GSW, Studienbüro, Prüfungsamt, 01062 Dresden (without the street, TUD has its own postal code). Alternatively, you can drop off the documents in the mailbox to the left of the door of the Examination Office.
Certificates
Language training and exams are certified in 10 languages by the Arbeitskreis der Sprachenzentren an Hochschulen e. V. (AKS). The exams cover the four skills of reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written production and interaction, and oral production and interaction in the following languages at the UNIcert® levels:
UNIcert® Basis:
Chinese, Czech, French, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish.
UNIcert® I:
Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish
UNIcert® II:
French, Russian, Spanish
UNIcert® III:
French, Spanish
The final grade of all UNIcert® levels is the unweighted average of the grades from the four partial examinations. The partial examinations cannot be compensated.
In the language courses that conclude with a UNIcert® certificate, there is an attendance requirement of at least 75% in accordance with the UNIcert® framework regulations in order to receive the certificate.
Module exams can be taken in the language courses at any level. They usually include a written exam and an oral exam. The modules are part of the general language training and as such can be freely chosen in other study programs according to the respective study regulations.
Credit points are earned if the module examinations are passed. The final grade results from the weighted average of the grades of the examination performances. The written exam is weighted twice, the oral exam is weighted once. The examination results cannot be compensated.
5 credit points are acquired through the modules, unless the study regulations specify otherwise.
In the language courses that lead to the UNIcert® and TU language certificates, a final exam must be passed at the end of the semester with at least 4.0 as the final grade. The grade is verified by a certificate of attendance. This enables the student to attend the next higher level a language course. However, this is not a module exam (Modulabschluss) and accordingly no credit points are allocated.
In the case of participation without an examination, the ECTS allocation is the responsibility of the respective examination offices.
The certificates are printed out independently via selma. If required, they can be signed and stamped at the TUDIAS study organization or at the OAZ for the East Asian languages.
Languages that do not have a UNIcert® certification or end with state examinations, TU Dresden language certificates are awarded.
The final grade of all certificate levels results from the unweighted average of the grades from the four partial examinations of reading comprehension , listening comprehension, as well as written and oral production. The partial examinations are not compensable.
The extent of language training and examinations is organized by the LSK examination regulations.
Note: Certificates for courses up to and including Summer Semester 2022 that have not been downloaded from LSKonline by September 30, 2022 must be applied for individually at TUDIAS.
