Albertine Sarrazin & Camilla Renschke
In her autobiographical writings, Albertine Sarrazin processed her own experiences in prison. Sarrazin spent much of her youth in correctional facilities, escaped repeatedly, and eventually—thanks in part to the support of Simone de Beauvoir—made her breakthrough as a writer.
Sarrazin’s turbulent life and her authentic accounts made her a literary sensation in 1960s France before she died in 1967 at the age of just 29.
Actress Camilla Renschke, winner of the 2020 German Audiobook Award (“Best Narrator”) and known for her role in the Bremen-based “Tatort” series, among other things, read excerpts from Albertine Sarrazin’s novel *Der Ausbruch*.
