Workshop with students of the CÉGEP (Québec) May 24, 2023
Poster on the occasion of the workshop with students from CÉGEP de Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, held as part of their visit to Germany on May 24, 2023, at the Faculty SLK of TU Dresden.
As part of their stay in Germany, students from the CÉGEP de Saint-Hyacinthe, Québec, were also guests at Bettina Lindorfer’s seminar “Migration and Uprooting in the Francophonie.”
Drawing on the poetry of the Quebec poet Joséphine Bacon, they discussed the history and present-day situation of the indigenous peoples of Quebec.
Joséphine Bacon, born in 1947 in Pessamit, Québec, Canada, is a Canadian writer, translator, and director.
She belongs to the Innu First Nation and writes in French and Innu-Aimun.
Joséphine Bacon is considered the “Grande Dame of Indigenous literature” in the province of Québec.
She is committed to promoting her language and culture worldwide and has received numerous honors for her work, including the Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec in 2018 and the Prix Samuel de Champlain for her representation of Canadian culture in France in 2019.
She was awarded honorary doctorates from Laval University in 2016 and the University of Québec in 2021.
