Lecture by Dr. Ulrich Wegner (ethnomusicologist, Berlin): The beginnings of jazz in the USA
Since the arrival of American soldiers in France in 1917, "jazz" has dominated the beat of bars and pubs from the Casino de Paris to the Boeuf sur le toit and the Folies-Bergère. But where does this jazz come from, how American, how African is it? - The lecture by ethnomusicologist Uli Wegner will shed light on these questions.
