Structure of thesis papers / presentations
Table of contents
HEAD
The header of the thesis paper includes the following information:
- Name of the University, Institute and subject
- Title of the seminar
- Semester and year
- Name of the lecturer
- Name of the author / Advisor
- Date of seminar
- Title or topic
THESIS / PRESENTATION
This is followed by the main body of the paper, which should succinctly capture the topic:
- Note only the most important information (especially figures etc.)
- Strive for clarity (slides, transparencies, blackboard, pictures)
- Try to think about your audience during the presentation
- Don't forget: you are giving a scientific presentation
- Draw on secondary literature
- Provide information about the usefulness of your literature, present the literature situation
- If you quote, remember the citation rules
- Do not formulate the sentences you read out on the paper. Your presentation should be held relatively freely and you should never just read from your thesis paper, as this bores the audience and reduces attention. Your outline must be clear from the main body. You can also say a few words about the purpose of your outline.
- Remember, your thesis paper should help your fellow students to prepare for the exam and to follow your presentation, i.e. it must be available at your session in any case, but must be accessible to everyone before the exam.
BIBLIOGRAPHY
At the end of the paper is the list of literature used. Please follow the instructions for creating bibliographies. The bibliography is essential.
It should not only contain basic texts; your specialized literature is particularly relevant.
