Master's programme "European Languages"
The orientation session for the Master's program in European Languages will take place on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Wiener Straße 48 (W48), in Room 004 .
This is a linguistics degree program. Its goal is therefore to provide students with comprehensive linguistic knowledge and skills.
The degree program is designed to be interdisciplinary within the field of philology. Our graduates study linguistics within the departments of German Studies, English Studies, Romance Studies, Slavic Studies, and Classical Philology. In this way, they acquire, within the framework of linguistics, skills in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches in particular.
Thanks to the flexible structure of the program, students can choose subject-specific areas of emphasis, which are noted on their diploma (English and American Studies, Romance Studies, Slavic Studies, Classical Philology, German Studies, or German as a Foreign and Second Language).
The degree program is multilingual. In addition to English and German, the degree program requires students to acquire or further develop proficiency in at least one Romance language and one Slavic language.
The program structure allows ample room for students to tailor their studies to their individual needs. As a result, our graduates are able to independently take on both academic and practical coordination tasks.
Practical components, such as exhibitions or conferences, enable our graduates to plan and carry out projects independently .
Learning an additional modern foreign language and spending time abroad strengthen our graduates’ intercultural competencies.
