New arrival at IHI Zittau: ZLSB regional office for teacher training opened

The International Institute (IHI) Zittau of TU Dresden is expanding its profile: since May 2026, the new Regional Office for Teacher Education of the Center for Teacher Education, School and Vocational Education Research (ZLSB) has been based at IHI Zittau.

The aim of the office is to innovatively shape teacher training in Upper Lusatia and to make the ZLSB's services accessible beyond the city limits of Dresden. Thanks to the IHI's central location at Zittauer Markt and its international atmosphere, the campus offers ideal conditions for this project. The keys were handed over on 18 May 2026 in the presence of Dr. Elisa Rößler (Head of the Regional Office), Prof. Axel Gehrmann (Director of the ZLSB) and Sindy Riebeck (Team Leader Development Fields). The grand opening of the TUD | ZLSB regional office will be celebrated on July 11, 2026 as part of the "OHA! - Oberlausitz hat Ahnung!" science festival . The festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Zittau market square and will offer exciting insights into educational and scientific offers. With the new regional office, the IHI is strengthening its role as a central stakeholder in the region's education and science landscape.
