We mourn Johann Middents

With great sadness we received the news of the death of our longtime colleague Johann Middents. Johann Middents was from 1996 until 2015 a research associate at IHI Zittau, first at the Chair of Industrial Engineering and finally at the Chair of Production Management and Information Technology. But Johann Middents was not only an employee of a professorship - he "constantly rethought IHI Zittau", was tireless in developing new ideas and concepts for the development of our international university experiment. From him came the impetus to establish a master's program "Project Management", from which numerous publicly visible events and initiatives have emerged - the most prominent example being the "Samsmarkt", but he was also involved in the efforts to revive the "Fleischbänke" and in the formation of the citizens' initiative "Zittau kann mehr!". Even in retirement, he commuted back and forth between his East Frisian home and Upper Lusatia and confessed to having more friendships here than there.

We mourn an important companion and shaper of the development of IHI Zittau, we mourn a dear colleague.
