The new Saxon Higher Education Act, SächsHG, introduces an association of administrations with the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz - a model test, limited until the end of 2010, later extended until the end of 2012. Ms Dipl.-Jur.
Karin Hollstein, Chancellor of the University of Zittau / Görlitz becomes interim Chancellor of IHI Zittau and spearheads the model test
Winter semester 2009/2010
The Bologna-conversion is completed: The diploma programmes "Business Administration and Engineering" and "Social Sciences" have been abandoned in favour of two new MA courses, namely "Project Management and Engineering" (MA) and "Business Ethics and CSR Management" (MA). The MA programme "International Management" will henceforth be offered co-operatively with the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz.
Academic year 2010/2011
The Saxon state government proposes an integration into TU Bergakademie Freiberg, but later on abandons this endeavour

The Saxon parliament adopts the "University Autonomy Act". Part of this initiative is the integration of IHI into TU Dresden.
1 January 2013
- IHI Zittau becomes a central scientific unit of TU Dresden.
- Two non-university research institutions of the Leibniz Association become important partners of IHI Zittau: Together with the Senckenberg Museum of Natural History Görlitz two courses on the subject of "biodiversity" are developed. In Görlitz, IHI and the Leibniz Institute of Ecological and Regional Development (IOER) operate the Interdisciplinary Centre for Ecological and Revitalizing Urban Transformation, for which a joint vocation is prepared.
Academic year 2013/2014
A new record was reached with 112 new enrolments. A total of 314 students from 20 countries are enrolled at that stage.
April 2014
In agreement with the Scientific Council of IHI Zittau, the Rector of TU Dresden, appoints Prof. Thorsten Claus as director of IHI Zittau, reappointed for another three years in 2016).
Academic year 2014/2015
"Biodiversity & Collection Management" is the first study programme carried out jointly with the Senckenberg Gesellschaft.
Academic year 2016/2017
- With one new appointment by IHI and four joint appointments with Senckenberg and IOER, the number of IHI chairs increases by almost double.
- The new overarching concept of IHI is now called "Biodiversity & Responsible Management"
- The instruction language of "Biodiversity & Collection Management" is switched to English, making it IHI's first English language Master programme.
Academic year 2017/18
"Ecosystem Services", IHI's 2nd English lanaguage Master programme, is launched.
Academic year 2018/19
Due to IHI's newly established English language Master programmes, students from 41 countries on four continents (with only Australia still missing...) are enroled at IHI Zittau now.
Academic year 2019/20
IHI Zittau and its international partner universities launch the first three double degree-options for students of the programme "International Management": By studying one semester abroad at Wrocław University of Economics oder at St. Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON) or by studying two semesters abroad at Andrássy University Budapest, students obtain a 2nd degree. The same is true for students of the partner universities.
Academic Year 2020/21
IHI Zittau and Technicel University at Liberec launch the Central European Campus Neisse/Nisa: Students of the Master programmes "Internationales Management" at IHI Zittau and "International Management" at TU Liberec can chose, where to study which course.
