Table of contents
Project Description
The war in Ukraine has had a devastating impact on the infrastructure of the Ukrainian education and higher education system on a large scale. The program line therefore focuses on the rapid establishment and implementation of virtual offerings. German universities are to support their Ukrainian university partners in maintaining their digital teaching offerings so that students as well as academics in and from Ukraine have prospects for continuing their academic careers despite the restrictions imposed by the war.
Program Goals
- The need for digital teaching for current degree programs in Ukraine has been identified.
- Digital courses have been expanded, are offered, and are used by students.
- Ukrainian scientists and university lecturers are involved in the courses, especially refugees.
- The competencies and structural framework for further digitization of the participating German and Ukrainian universities are available and can be used for the development of further digital joint and Ukrainian study programs and for the reconstruction of the universities.
Project Goals
- Successful continuation of study operations at the Ukrainian partner institutions.
- Cooperation in the development of advanced learning/teaching methods, especially in the area of accessibility for the period up to 2030.
- Establishment of new or sustainable deepening of existing partnership relations in research, teaching and transfer.
- Examination of the possibilities and, if necessary, preparation for further development/strengthening of the teaching offers.
- Linguistic qualification of the students of the partner university in terms of possible future joint study offers.
Project Results
The project objectives of the first implementation phase (07/22 to 12/22) within the joint project "TU Dresden builds bridges" can be considered as achieved. The implementation of the measures to achieve the above-mentioned project goals and the involvement of the respective project participants are explained in more detail in the following section:
At IHI Zittau, Prof. Dr. Makovoz further developed digital teaching offers and can successfully maintain teaching at her home university TU Kharkiv. In addition to the further development and maintenance of digital teaching offers for her home university, Ms. Makovoz is successfully involved in the research and teaching activities of the economics-oriented professorships (Prof. Dr. Stefan Eckert, Prof. Dr. Thorsten Claus) at IHI Zittau.
At the Institute of Slavic Studies there was a change of personnel at the beginning of the project. During this time, Prof. Dr. Olha Ihnatyeva stayed at the Institute for Slavic Studies and was already actively involved in teaching through a lectureship. Contacts already existed with her home university in Cherkassy, which meant that Ms. Ihnatyeva was able to take over the measures envisaged in the project. Her focus is on new methods of foreign language teaching as well as questions of political and religious discourse.
The Faculty of Economics at TU Dresden received a visit from a total of 14 professors and lecturers from the Western Ukrainian National University (WUNU) in Ternopil during the week of 03-08.10.2022. As part of the program, Ukrainian participants were trained on digital/hybrid event formats and participated in a multiplayer event on the use of OER (open educational resources) on the topic of COIL (collaborative online international learning).
Measures 3 and 11 have been successfully implemented at the Chair of Software Technology. As a result, Prof. Globa and Dr. Novogrudska were able to successfully continue online study for Ukrainian students of NTUU KPI. In addition, the self-assessment system Artemis was extended to support SQL and exercises were successfully created in digital format.
