Research Areas
Production Planning and Production Control
Industrial production in the 21st century is characterised in many branches by significant uncertainty about the predictability of customer demand or availability of resources.
In order to assure a service-oriented, economic and environmentally driven industrial production, uncertainty must be overcome through proactive production planning and reactive production control.
Research at the Chair of Production Management and Information Technology in the field of production management focuses on the development of industrially applicable procedures for production planning and control that will meet these challenges. Our research includes the adjacent topics of production planning and control such as logistics or procurement.
Information Technology
In the area of information technology the Chair of Production Management and Information Technology analyses the topics of information management systems and e-learning. Regarding information management, we focus on modelling operational business processes and their technologically driven implementation that aims at efficient and transparent business process management design.
E-learning research concentrates on the development of teaching-learning scenarios and learning environments for higher education and vocational training at universities and industry. Our competency in university and media didactics in these fields leads to advisory services for teachers
Our activities include the following topics:
- Interaction Design Patterns for video-based learning
In the framework of Interaction Design Patterns for video-based learning a variety of solutions have proven effective for supporting learners dealing with singular or multiple videos. Information concerning the content and scenarios requiring such solutions is to be found in the Design Patterns.
- CSCL scripts for video-based learning
In order to make sure each student can benefit equally from collaborative learning activities, these may be time-structured according to composition of the group, roles, tasks and resources. Suitable scripts, tasks and activities are to be defined for videos.
- Self and peer assessment for time-based media
Various task types of video e-assessment allow for innovative didactic scenarios for goal-oriented usage of videos in teaching. The focus is on possible scenarios for integrating innovative task types into videos and their subsequent use and management.
- Learning analytics und video usage mining
We are developing special methods and instruments for description, analysis and prediction of user behaviour whilest learning. Overlapping exists between learning analytics and video usage mining.
