Organizational Models & Quality Management in Nursing
If you are interested in writing your master thesis on one of these topics, please contact Dr. Stefanie Hanke () or Ms. Sarah Bärsch ().
1. Care models of the future - a model comparison
The demographic development of our country shows a clear aging, the services of care become more and more expensive, skilled workers become less and less and the pressure to work economically increases continuously. How do we want to meet these challenges? The Buurtzorg model is already being used very successfully in the Netherlands and there are also initial model trials in Germany. As part of your thesis, you will systematically work out a comparison between the conventional care model in Germany and Buurtzorg. The result of your investigation is a category system, which systematically shows the differences and similarities of both models, explains and critically examines them. Derived from this, you outline possible challenges for the installation of the Buurtzorg care model in Germany.
2. Buurtzorg care model of the future - changing demands on caregivers, care assistants and everyday companions - a comparison
The Buurtzorg model is a model of care and support coming from the Netherlands, which is also trying to establish itself in Germany through model projects. This is accompanied by many challenges, which also redefine the requirements for care teams and everyday companions. In this thesis you will analyze the professional and interdisciplinary requirements of the nursing and accompanying staff in conventional structures and in the structures of the Buurtzorg model and work out the differences. In addition, after their analysis, they will derive recommendations for action as to how the adaptation of competencies to the new organizational form could be realized.
3. Care model of the future - changed work organization - challenges and chances
The Buurtzorg model is a model of care coming from the Netherlands, which is also trying to establish itself in Germany through model projects. In this thesis you analyze systematically the differences of the work organization in comparison to the conventional care model and work out systematically the chances and challenges of the work organization lying in the new care model for the appropriate target groups. As a result, you will provide recommendations for action on how the process and organizational structure can be transformed from the conventional organizational model to the Buurtzorg model.
4. A comparison of quality management systems in nursing care
The model Buurtzorg is a model of the care coming from the Netherlands, which tries to establish itself also in Germany over model projects. In the context of this model also another system of the quality management is used, in order to consider the changed basic conditions of this holistic care model. This is the OMAHA system. In this thesis you will systematically analyze the differences and similarities of the QM system OMAHA in comparison to the conventional QM standard ISO 9001 and develop a proposal how a transformation from ISO 9001 to OMAHA can be designed.

Digital competence measurement and competence development in the study entry phase
If you are interested in writing your master thesis on one of these topics, please contact Dr. Stefanie Hanke () or Ms. Sarah Bärsch ().
1. A competence model for study entrance diagnostics - overview of competence models in the context of higher education
The graduation of studies into Bachelor's and Master's degrees poses challenges for both students and teachers. It leads to the fact that on the educational pathway not only a transition between school and university takes place, but also at the university from bachelor to master studies. When entering the master's program, students come not only from different educational institutions (university, university of applied sciences, etc.) but also from different countries. As a result, an increased heterogeneity of students, not only with regard to their subject-specific competencies, but also with regard to their interdisciplinary competencies, can also be expected during the transition from the bachelor's to the master's program. This leads to uncertainties on the part of both students and teachers, which make a successful start more difficult. In order to facilitate this in the most resource-saving way possible, online self-assessments can be used to diagnose competencies and make recommendations based on them. The basis of a comprehensive competence diagnosis is a competence model, which depicts different competence dimensions as well as different competence levels. The aim of your thesis is to identify such a model and to analyze its suitability regarding the application to an Online Self Assessment (OSA) in the context of the transition from Bachelor to Master studies.
2. Measuring competencies - overview of competency measurement procedures.
Particularly in the context of online self-assessments (OSAs), competence measurement poses a special challenge. Here, (potential) students are to receive individual feedback regarding the competencies required for their desired course of study and their own corresponding level of competency by means of Internet-based competency measurement and automated feedback. This gives them the opportunity for an individual comparison of expectations and competencies that goes beyond the research of study documents. A wide variety of instruments are now available for online-based competency measurement. In your work you will analyze instruments for competence measurement with regard to their chances, risks and success factors concerning the implementation in an OSA and the quality of competence measurement by means of an OSA in order to formulate recommendations for an instrument or a combination of different instruments. Ideally, you will also identify best practices or examples of successful applications especially regarding OSAs offered during the transition between bachelor and master studies.
3. Open educational resources (OER): overview of the offers as well as critical consideration
Not only in the last years OER are on everybody's lips. In the meantime, an almost unmanageable amount of databases and collections can be found. The aim of your thesis is to analyze selected OER offerings with regard to the following aspects:
- Quality and complexity of the content
- Usability
- Accessibility
- Embedding possibilities (in OPAL)
- Accessibility
Based on this analysis, generate recommendations for the use of specific content or a specific source of that content.

Corporate culture models for SMEs
If you are interested in writing your master thesis on this topic, please contact Dr. Stefanie Hanke () or Ms. Sarah Bärsch ().
1. Corporate culture: aspiration and reality of concrete culture models - to what extent can they be applied to SMEs?
Much of the literature regarding corporate culture relates to globally active corporations. Against this background, the question arises to what extent the findings are also applicable to SMEs and to what extent small companies can benefit from them. What challenges are particularly significant for SMEs in terms of corporate culture? What recommendations can be made to SMEs in this regard? You can address these questions in your master's thesis, based on existing literature as well as empirical studies, such as a case study or survey. You also have the opportunity to contrast large and medium-sized companies with regard to their corporate culture in order to work out the differences.
