Vita
Nils Kruse is ESG Manager at Samsung SDI Europe since October 2023 and Visiting Scholar at TU Dresden at the Chair of Business Administration, especially Responsible Management. He studied Management and Asian Studies at the HTWG Konstanz, International Management at the Korea University (Seoul/South Korea), International Relations at the American University (Washington D.C./USA) and received his PhD in Business Administration at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg. He also completed multi-semester language courses at Beijing Language and Culture University in China and Yonsei University in Seoul.
His previous academic positions include director of the Institute for Business Ethics and Sustainable Strategy (IBES) at FHWien der WKW, research and teaching at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and EWHA University in Seoul. To create synergies between research and practice, Dr. Kruse acted as a consultant for NGOs as well as DAX 30 companies such as Mercedes Benz, Lufthansa and VW.
Prior to his doctorate, he worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, among others, for four years, where he also served Asian clients from China, Japan and South Korea as a senior consultant and executive assistant. In addition, he held various positions abroad for the German Centre for Industry and Trade in Beijing and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Seoul.
His research focuses on sustainability and circular economy, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and (un)ethical behavior of employees. Using experimental methods, Dr. Kruse tries to understand and predict how people behave under different incentive structures. He also conducts experiments with international questions in order to gain new insights beyond Anglo-Saxon and Eurocentric perspectives.
