Recognition of examination credits
Do you want to get previous examination credits recognised?
This is how it is done:
1. Recognition of study and examination results
The form for applying for credit must be completed in full and submitted to the Examinations Office in the original with the necessary documents (proof of academic achievements, module descriptions ...). The proof of the academic achievements (transcript of records, overview of achievements, certificate) must be submitted either as an original or as a certified copy (if not in German with a certified translation). Original documents can be returned after completion of the crediting procedure. The module descriptions can be submitted to the examination office as a Pdf file.
This application is only permitted within the first two months of the respective semester. The Examination Board will decide on the recognition of the credits after presentation of the submitted documents and, if applicable, the professional assessment of the university lecturer responsible for the module.
Please also note the corresponding regulations in your examination regulations and the enrolment regulations of TU Dresden.
2. Recognition of study and examinations that were completed abroad
ECTS and its instruments facilitate the recognition of academic achievements completed abroad, but ECTS does not automatically recognise academic achievements. You should therefore follow the following steps for the later recognition of your credits earned abroad:
Before your stay abroad
Discuss the content and formal requirements with your professor before your stay abroad for later recognition of your courses. For each course that you want to have credited, find the appropriate module from your course at IHI Zittau and clarify with the relevant lecturer whether the course content and scope correspond to those at IHI Zittau. If possible, please submit the course description from the ECTS course catalogue of your host university.
Enter the course selection you have agreed on in the Learning Agreement and have it signed by the exchange coordinators at IHI Zittau and your host university.
At the end of your stay abroad
Have a Transcript of Records issued to you after taking the examinations abroad.
After your stay abroad
After your return, submit an application for the recognition of credits earned abroad. You enclose the Transcript of Records or a comparable certificate (in the original) and the detailed course description (in German or English). If you do not have a detailed course description from the ECTS course catalogue of your host university, you should obtain one in good time. The course description serves as proof of the content of the course. Submit the completed documents to the Examination Office. This should be done no later than 2 months after the start of the semester. The Examination Board will then decide on the crediting.
