hacking4future - JUGEND HACKT DRESDEN visits the Faculty of Computer Science
From April 11 to 13, 2025, 57 young people, 25 volunteer mentors and 20 helpers populated the Faculty of Computer Science at TU Dresden and implemented impressive coding/making projects in 22 hours.
After an inspiring input from Laura Hilliger on this year's motto "hacking4future", the young people developed their ideas for the weekend in a guided brainstorming process. They were supported by volunteer mentors from the IT sector and the conglomerate in Dresden, who supported the make-space with laser cutters, 3D printers and other equipment and materials. Eight projects were created and presented at the closing event on Sunday. From a timetable navigation system for visually impaired people, to a learning app, to a "MiniSmartHome" simulation, an app was also created to encourage people to collect garbage and a website that shows ways to get involved. The presentations of the results can be viewed on jugendhackt.org in two weeks' time.
Jugend hackt Dresden is organized locally by the Medienkulturzentrum Dresden in cooperation with the Open Knowledge Foundation Deutschland e.V. . The event is co-financed by tax funds on the basis of the budget approved by the Saxon state parliament. We would like to thank the faculty, the ASCII team and the friendly security guards for their support over the weekend!
