This is just for you! 2024 Girls' Day at TU Dresden
On April 25, TU Dresden will once again open its doors for Girls' Day, an initiative to encourage girls and young women to enter technical and scientific professions. Under the motto "This is just for you!", the university is inviting schoolgirls from grade 5 upwards to experience the fascinating world of technology and science.
In numerous interactive workshops, experiments and lectures, the girls will have the opportunity to learn about the STEM subjects – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Participation is free of charge.
The following workshops have currently been scheduled for the TUD Girls' Day
Geodesy – the future is measurable
The girls will learn first-hand what modern geodesy looks like in practice, try out modern 3D measurement technology and meet researchers from Antarctic expeditions.
The fascination of smartphones – experiencing microscopy first-hand
The schoolgirls will immerse into the cosmos of microscopy and experience how electron microscopes help us to explore the structures inside smartphones.
LIGHTWEIGHT CONSTRUCTION made easy!
How can components and entire systems be made lighter, safer and more sustainable? The schoolgirls will learn about this at the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology.
Develop your clever everyday helper! How tactile internet technology can help us
The girls will discover the world of robotics and will design their own everyday helper. They will also learn more about the Tactile Internet and real-time data transmission.
How machines learn – Experience the possible applications of artificial intelligence
Here, the girls will gain insights into the research and use of modern AI systems and explore TU Dresden's state-of-the-art computing center to learn more about machine learning.
Artificial intelligence for your pocket – Object recognition with a mini-computer
Using a mini-computer and LEGO blocks, the schoolgirls will build a prototype for a translation machine and will learn about opportunities to study AI at TU Dresden.
Your day as a civil engineer – Get a practical insight
What does the everyday working life of a civil engineer look like? The schoolgirls will gain practical insights in the building materials laboratory, the hydraulic engineering laboratory and the traffic route and road construction laboratory.
