Prof. Jürgen Czarske honored as Fellow of Institute for Physics

Prof. Jürgen Czarske, holder of the Chair of Measurement and Sensor System Technique at the Faculty of Electrical an Computer Engineering and Head of the Competence Center Biomedical Computational Laser Systems (BIOLAS), has been awarded the Fellow Award of Institute for Physics (IOP), London, for his research on the transfer of physical knowledge to biomedicine, fiber optic communication and energy-efficient technical processes.

The Fellowship of the Institute of Physics (FInstP) is the highest level of membership that physicists who are members of the Institute of Physics (IoP) can achieve. It is intended for individuals who hold a degree in physics or a related subject (or equivalent, workplace-acquired knowledge) and have made a significant impact on their field.

"The Fellowship through the IoP is a fantastic honor for the entire team. Even as an undergraduate in electrical engineering and physics, I loved pushing boundaries at the intersection of research fields. As a professor of measurement and sensor technology at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, as well as a co-opted professor of physics, the honor from London by the IoP is an important recognition of our interdisciplinary research on applied physics. It is a confirmation of the path we have chosen and an incentive for both, explorations of new research areas such as virtual staining in digital medicine for advances in real-time diagnostics or quantum-based measurement processes with drastically reduced measurement uncertainties for fiber-optic communication," Czarske is pleased to say.

The Institute of Physics was founded in 1874 and boasts more than 20,000 members.
