The Network for Computer Science in Higher Education—still young, but already boasting a vibrant community—has reached an important milestone: As part of the “Focus on Networks 2026” call for proposals by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education (StIL) , the network was selected for funding. Out of a total of 199 submissions nationwide, 29 networks were recommended for funding—and the Computer Science Network is among them.
Funding will begin on October 1, 2026, subject to a funding plan that has been reviewed and approved by the foundation, and will run for a period of three years. The total funding for the program amounts to approximately 6 million euros. The goal of the funding is to support and ensure the continuity of the network’s coordination as well as its substantive and organizational structure.
For the network, this funding means, above all, continuity: work can continue within the familiar structure. Collaborative initiatives can be further expanded and refined in terms of quality. In its press release, the foundation emphasizes that networks have the potential to act as drivers of innovation and to spread good ideas more widely.
