Planning an OER initiative based on several scenarios
On Tuesday, 16 January 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., a productive workshop on planning an Open Educational Resource (OER) took place in Försterbau room 101.
The participants of the meeting, consisting of representatives from various areas and interest groups, had an intensive exchange about the planning of OER. Various scenarios were evaluated and concerns and solutions were discussed on topics such as collaboration, resources, milestones, quality, risks and opportunities.
Three large posters with the keywords "Collaboration", "Resources", "Milestones", "Quality" and "Risks and Opportunities" were displayed in the room. These served as visual guides for the discussion and the development of ideas. Suggestions and ideas were written on small, colourful pieces of paper and stuck to the posters.
The participants were divided into three groups to explore specific aspects of OER planning in greater depth. The first group focussed on the targeted strengthening of OER activities at TU Dresden. The second group focussed on the central coordination of OER activities for the entire Free State of Saxony. The third group explored possibilities for cross-state collaboration.
After intensive group work, there was a lively exchange between the groups, followed by a lively discussion about the ideas and solutions presented.
The organisers then used the results of the discussion to hold internal meetings and shape the further course of OER planning. Overall, the meeting was a success, underlining the willingness to get involved and the interest in promoting open educational resources in Saxony.
The event was accompanied by coffee, biscuits and tea.
