Shaping the future of energy together: Successful kick-off for the ‘Durchstarten’ energy mentoring programme

Space for discussion, guidance and personal development

The ‘Durchstarten: Energy Mentoring by NET’ programme got off to a successful start with an online event. It brings together students studying industrial engineering, electrical engineering, renewable energy systems and mechatronics at universities across Germany with six companies in the energy sector. The aim was to establish initial contacts, explore career prospects and lay the foundations for personal mentoring relationships.

The event featured company pitches, interactive get-togethers between mentors and mentees, and discussions on career planning and individual goals. The companies presented their areas of activity and potential career paths. This enabled the participants to identify common ground and hold initial discussions – an important foundation for further collaboration between mentors and mentees.

The kick-off marked the start of a shared journey that will continue from October to March. During this period, the students will gain personal insights into the working world of the energy sector through the mentoring programme. This includes one-to-one discussions with their mentors as well as visits to the participating energy companies.

The programme is complemented by empowerment workshops designed to support the mentees’ personal and professional development. A peer meeting also offers the opportunity to network, share experiences and learn from one another.

Unlocking potential and shaping the future together

Mentoring is more than just the transfer of knowledge and experience. It provides guidance, boosts self-confidence and opens up access to people, topics and career opportunities that can have a lasting impact on one’s own path. Particularly in an industry facing major technological and societal challenges, intergenerational exchange, diverse perspectives and the targeted development of young talent are of particular importance.
