Structural change in Lusatia: New concepts for energy supply
Project ZellSys has started
On 01. 10. 2022 the project "ZellSys - Cellular Energy Systems for the Transformation of Energy Supply in Suburban Space" started at TU Dresden. It is part of the structural transformation projects in Lusatia and is funded with 870,000 euros as part of the program "Strengthening the transformation dynamics and departure in the coalfields and coal-fired power plant sites (STARK)" of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK).
The aim of the project is to develop concepts on how a sustainable change in the energy supply around Hoyerswerda can succeed. As a cellular energy system, an energy supply of the Wittichenau region that acts as autonomously as possible is to be considered. A special focus here is on the interconnection with the central energy supply in Hoyerswerda. The project focuses in particular on the sector coupling between thermal and electrical energy supply and also includes the topics of electromobility and gas supply in the context of an accelerated expansion of renewable energies. In addition, an emphasis is placed on the information networking of different energy production and consumption components.
The project will be carried out in cooperation with local companies such as "Versorgungsbetriebe Hoyerswerda GmbH" and "YADOS GmbH". The kick-off meeting will take place on 25.10.2022 at the Knappenrode energy factory.
